New starter assessment

When you and your child visit the setting for an open day, staff will be on hand to complete an induction form with you. This indicates your child's interests, hobbies and development at home.

Within the first term of starting at Little Gem's pre-school all staff members document a special interaction with each individual. This build's up a summery for your child's assessment.

Once relationships start to form between staff and children, your child will be allocated a key person.
They will begin your child's "learning journal" with them which includes written observations, photo's and special work.

Your child's key person will then complete a "new starter assessment." This will state where your child's learning and development is from starting at Little Gem's. All information is gathered from families, members of staff, photo's and written observations.

You will be introduced to your child's keyperson, then a meeting arranged at a suitable time to discuss the new starter assessment form. You will see your child's learning journal too!
