Our Committee needs you!

What is a committee?
Little Gem's pre-school is a charity which means we have a committee made up of volunteers who are parents/carers or family of children who attend our setting, our business manager and a couple of experts.
Legally we are not allowed to open without a fully running committee of around ten members. However, the more the merrier! The more input we have from members, the better our setting will be.

What does it involve?
Being on the committee is completely voluntary and does not require a lot of your time...
We hold three meetings per year (one per term) which usually last around an hour. All meetings are held during our opening times, but if you can't make a meeting that is not a problem. It is important to remember everything discussed during a meeting is private and confidential. You are free to contribute ideas and suggestions to issues raised during the meeting especially when it comes to fundraising! - or just be present and enjoy some cake!
Issues discussed in meetings range from staff training to maintenance in the setting to policies to fundraising ideas.

Paperwork
Due to our charity being a pre-school, when you first join the committee there are two important pieces of paperwork which need to be carried out. Firstly a volunteer DBS check needs to be completed followed by an EY2 application. Both of these can be completed online, they are quite simple to do and our current Chairperson will be more than happy to help you.

WhatsApp
Our current members are all in a WhatsApp group which you can join if you like. It is used to share further ideas following a meeting and remind members of upcoming meetings.
