Our Provision

Personal, Social & Emotional Development
During both morning and afternoon sessions we offer rolling snack. This means snack is available during the whole session - giving each child the opportunity to choose when they feel hungry or thirsty.

Communication and Language
At Little Gem's we understand how important it is to develop communication skills from a young age. Throughout sessions we promote this by reading stories within a large group, small group and 1:1. We providing a range of resources to encourage speech, language and interaction such as puppets, cd players with headphones and story.

Physical development
We have a large outside area which is available everyday for children to explore. We take pride in different areas to promote many learning opportunities and develop interests further.

Literacy
Children have many opportunities to develop a passion for reading and writing.
We provide a wide range of stimulating equipment to develop children's mark making skills.

Mathematics
When every child walks through the door, they enter
the world of mathematics without even realising it!
Stacking objects, routines and sequencing are
things that happen, which build skills and understanding.

Understanding the world
Children explore many natural materials both inside and outside. Open ended play is important for individuals to discover the world around them.

Expressive arts and design
We have a wide range of resources for children to select and use as they wish. All materials are low level for easy access. Everyday we have the essentials such as paint, pens, crayons, playdough, glue, glitter at hand. Children enjoy making their own playdough, measuring the ingredients and adding colour, scents and textures. We do provide aprons but recommend children wear old pre-school clothes as they can get messy!!
